This weekend past on March 8th, Vera Moore Cosmetics, Isoplus and Fashion Avenue News magazine collaborated to host a wonderful event to celebrate Harlem's fashion week in New York City. I love participating in events like this especially since encouraging, promoting and celebrating small business entrepreneurs and self-starters summarizes my goal for certain segments of this style blog. Commencing with a press review launch bit, to include make-up sessions offered all night and some step and repeat captures of attendees, the event took off well.
The remarkable opportunity allowed for boutique owners in the local New York and New Jersey areas to showcase as well as sell their products, generate brand awareness to possible new clientele, and make their presence known. Each company had a chance to interconnect with relative industry personalities like fashion bloggers, image consultants, stylists, make-up artists, PR companies and possible future clients.
I got the chance to meet with each boutique owner during the press review piece, learned a bit about their establishments and gained perspective about each company's representation of their brand. Honestly, I met the most refreshing, professional individuals and, surprisingly enough, a few superlicious business team's personalities. In a setting where first impression truly matters for young brands to put their best foot forward with exceptional modus operandi moves, very few team in the bunch left me with a not-so-impressive first time inklings to their brand and professionalism appeal.
The businesses that showed up and participated gained more exposure for their brand, and every single exposure counts because all the more people there become to talk about and spread the news of their company's existence. Leave it to me to sound like a business 101 lecturer but really though, as one who also cares about business and hopes to equally build on one in the near future, these ideals will guide my moves. I know that positive word of mouth and media reviews from new online presence like this style blogoshpere, or other pre-existing online presence adds to the company's growing awareness young brands could use. Every impression conveyed by a brand has importance and holds weight, including ones that seemingly mean nothing. The "nothing" that sends an unintended brand message, may consequentially become a deal breaker for future possibilities, really. A great defining moment can come from favorable rapport established during social events like these so,why not make the very best of it?
Nevertheless, the remainder of the event entailed fashion runway presentations of beautifully curated selections by three of the pop-up boutiques present that night, entertaining music from the DJ, cocktail hour and the mingling amongst the socialites in attendance.

A look at some guests of the event to include the models and us media press folks. I had an enthralling experience as a photographer and style blogger covering the event for your viewings and meeting all of those amazing people. I loved seeing all of those self-starters and entrepreneurs seeking to fulfill and live out their dreams. Kudos to them all!
