Myself + Chef Gracie Odogbili

So over the weekend, I attended this fabulous dining event presented by Chef Grace Odogbili, owner of Dinning With Grace Catering company based in New York City. On Saturday July 19th, she held presented one of the upcoming dinning series titled 'A Pop-up Tasting series of contemporary African cuisines', at a beautiful artsy atmosphere. Attendees reveled in some live music by a sweet violinist and a beautiful guitarist and songstress of Uganda, while we mingled and awaited arrivals of each dish presentation to munch on.

The 'African Table Dinning Series' entails different dinning events where she will present delicious cuisines to guests, for an opportunity to indulge in an amped up version of well known Pan-African dishes. And when I say amped up, I mean like some of the appetizers presented at this past event boasted of rich, flavorful, well decorated, delicious and meticulously seasoned dishes, prepared in a gourmet worthy mannerism.

The dishes I guzzled ...

>
Curry Goat Ravioli:
Goat, curry etc.

<
       Dibi en Croute:
open face lamb & ostrich pie, puff pastry with Senegalese onion sauce.

>
Plantain Duo:
  kelewele-spiced fried plantain w/crushed beans

<
Suya Pocket:
Spicy Peanut, Turkey meatballs, slaw, peanut sauce

>
Fish Pepper Soup:
a rich herbaceous fish broth topped with plantain crusted shark.

<
Jallof Pride:
spicy West African red rice.
Truthfully told, every time another dish arrived, we all virtually stopped on our tracks and made way to grab up the yummies before it all disappeared fast again.

The lady of the hour came out to greet her guests.

Attending her pop-up tasting shindig gave me a vision of an event that I'd love to organize with her company Dining With Grace, for an amazing opportunity to share my cultural African dishes with guests.  The event instilled certainty that in working with her, things will get executed with tastefully inviting arrangements and professionalism much like what I witnessed.   #BookChefGracie

Eating healthy means mindfully putting an effort to caring about what yummies we allow in our body. Hope this sharing encourages some healthier choices.

    Bon appétit!
