Captured at a fashion event we both attended about a week ago, where he sat on the forum of guest speakers and divulged many awesome style tips. He's one of those introspective individuals with a humble and warm embracing spirit; a rare quality combo few possess. I got to chat with him a bit and picked his brain about the many talents of his, his outlook on life and really, just read for yourselves below...
1. Where were you born and raised?
Born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Raised there till I was 14, then moved to Babylon, Long Island, New York. So I have a pretty good balance between both places, because I spend a lot of my summers in Bosnia even after I moved to NY.
2. Who was your Biggest influence or inspiration while growing up?
I’d say the biggest influence I can think of growing up in my era was Michael Jordan. Everyone wanted to be like Mike. From the moves on the court and of the court, from what I was able to see, he was what I aspired to be.
3. What are your thoughts on music and the role you play with it?
Music is what speaks to the people that listen to music, which is EVERYONE. In one shape or form, frequency, wavelength based music is heard everyday, it is life. How we use music to influence is where we need to make a shift. I mean I already feel the shift happening, and a lot of people are ahead of their time, and those are the ones we have to listen to. Our consciousness is improving faster than ever and we’re becoming more compassionate as human beings and the music plays a big part in this.
4. Any artists, creators or individual you hope to work with some day?
Everyday I work with the greatest creator of them all, God. I am thankful for whoever I get put into the studio to work with whether its photography, music or the kitchen, because I know that the person I am working with has a specific purpose in my life, and I have a specific purpose in theirs. But by Gods will I have a reason to think that Pharrell and I would make history.
5. How would you describe your typical fashion style esthetics?
Fashion to me a product of nature. I love simplicity. The flower is designed to be functional to its environment first, the beauty of the flower is last. So I look for functionality, does it cover my body in the way that it is suppose to. I look for comfortability first and how ergonomical it is, then look for the patterns that suit my eye.
6. Favorite fashion brands/designers to shop from?
I love DOPE simplicity so one of the favorite brand I’m currently working with is my own called No Label, and my boys over at Control Sector. We’re on the same page when it comes to design. I do occasionally go to places such as H&M and top shop for my simple garments.
7. Where have you traveled to recently or hope to travel to someday?
Well last year in September I sat in my car and decided to take 2 months and drive across the country and back. It was an amazing experience to stop in almost 15 cities, meet and take in the diversity within the United States. This country has so much beauty. Place I would like to get set up at with my music/photography studio would be Barbados. For some reason that place is calling me. I’ve been to a few different Islands but never to Barbados. But before I settle down in Barbados, I would also love to visit many places in Asia, too many to name, Africa, exclusively Egypt and Zimbabwe and Easter Island.
8. How long did it take you to grow that beard? ( this is for all who wonder as we know many think and ask it, haha!)
Ha, this beard has been growing for over a year. I do give it a light trim every now and then. I get split ends..
9. Any books you're currently reading?
I’m always reading the Bhagavad Gita, The Bible, and recently a friend of mine bought me a book called The Prophet, which I am looking forward to reading.
10. What mark do you hope to leave on this earth?
Whatever it is I am suppose to do on this earth is already done, all I have to do is show up. No expectations, no wants except to do my Fathers work and what I was sent here to do. Bring peace.
