Peter Pilotto for Target
Peter Pilotto’s new line for Target is absolutely exquisite. Although I must blame the collection for making me despise this bitter and grey winter weather even more than I already was. His vibrant color pallet, displayed in such a fun yet chic way, could make even the most archetypal New Yorker desire a change from their typical black attire. The best way I could describe this collection would be sophisticated beach wear. The products range anywhere from a structured blazer to a bikini. One my favorite things about this line is how cohesive it is. Each piece of the collection is totally unique and different but at the same time still fits together perfectly with the rest. The patterns are very mix and match, but done so in an entirely tasteful manner. Another aspect about this line that I love is how it is by no means the usual take on “girly”appeal. I feel that spring and summer clothing often tends to settle into an ultra feminine rut due to all of the floral patterns and pastels. While Pilotto did include florals in this line, but it tended more geometric-like in construction rather than the usual round and frilly. He also included a lot of stripes and shapes in the fabric patterns. His inclusion of black in most of the pieces helps to balance out the lighter colors. I am obsessed with the structured form Pilotto chose for the skirts and the shirts. All of the sharp hemlines and necklines create a very cool and almost masculine effect which I often look for when shopping. This is a very innovative summer line. Like aforementioned, designs often tend to get super flowy in the summer, and I am so happy that Pilotto has decided to turn away from that tendency and start this new trend. I advise everyone to get themselves to their nearest Target before this collection sells out. I can tell it will go fast and I will most definitely be sporting some Peter Pilotto for Target pieces this summer!
